Interested in receiving a weekly basket of fresh, seasonal produce? Then join Haliburton Farm's Food Basket Program - an innovative way to receive a weekly basket of seasonal produce and become closer to the farmers who grow the food. Members receive personal service from the farmers on pick-up day and have questions answered on how the produce was grown or how to prepare it. In addition an information e-mail with the list of produce, recipes and farm news is sent out during the duration of the program.
The Program: 15 weeks of Summer produce from July 07 - October 13 with a possible Winter basket program. Watch this space for updates. We are looking for members who will support us for the entire program through the weeks, as the farmers need the consistency for crop planning.
The Produce: The farmers meet to prepare a list of what they know they can grow for you in the following year. They fill the basket each weekwith crops that are in season and at their very best. These crops include: Apples, Beans, Braising Greens, Carrots, Leeks, Lettuce, Fennel, Kohlrabi, Green Onions, Red Onions, Storage Onions, Peas, Potatoes, Pumpkins, Purple Turnips, Winter Squash, Tomatoes, Beets, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Cucumbers, Garlic, Salad Greens, Kale, Radish, Rutabaga, Strawberries, Swiss Chard, Summer Squash, Parsnips, Spinach and Pears. Currently we are inviting new customers for the 2010 Food Basket. Please email us for more information.
